WAO TEA

Petrichor Shu Pu'er 2011

$25.00

Petrichor is a ripe Pu’er tea cultivated in the mountains of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, where the oldest and most primitive tea trees still flourish. The leaves have been harvested in 2011 and traditionally compressed into a cake.

Pu'er is a type of tea that offers a myriad of health benefits. It is known as a "medicinal tea" in China. It is also considered to be opening the meridians, warming the liver and clearing stagnant energy.

Because of its post-fermentation process, it breaks down the caffeine levels in the leaves and raises the level of polyphenols (flavonoids, catechins and theaflavin). These powerful chemicals are known to be powerfully antioxydant, acting like a sponge to clear the body of heavy metal toxins, reducing stress and repairing cells. The micro-organisms present in pu-erh tea increase healthy bacteria flora in the stomach and intestines, helping in proper digestion of foods. The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) contained in pu-erh tea has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, increase the production of natural melatonin, stabilize the mood and improve sleep.

Earth Karma : 100% Clean and Vibrant. No pesticides/chemicals. From old tea trees of a secluded tea garden away from any pollution, in a wild environment. From a lovely family cultivating tea since many generations.

Tasting experience : When steeped, the deep and rich liquor will offer a silky texture and pleasing aromas of black earth, classic notes of damp undergrowth and bark, dried fruits accents with mineral character. Very accessible and easy to make.

Medicine : Earth element tea. The word « Petrichor » is constructed from Greek Petra έτρα), meaning « stone », and ichor (ἰχώρ), the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology. Petrichor is the scent of soil, plants and trees produced when awaken by rain, the union of Water nourishing Earth. Petrichor Shu Pu’er offers sweet gentle grounding supportive medicine, lightness, soft centering energy - to encourage balance and meditative presence.
