DIAN YUN 靛云 Tea Journey Bag

$238.00

ESSENCE | This tea journey bag is designed to accompany you in your most precious tea rituals, whether in Nature or on your travels, to hold and protect your ceramics and tea tools within a vessel of care and beauty. It includes a small reversible tea runner to support myriad tea altars and ceremonial gestures.

NAME | 靛云 Diàn yún is for "Indigo Cloud", evoking the deep blue patterns of Dong textiles, and the cloud-like protective nature of the bag, designed to keep your tea ware protected from its special energy.

STORY | This journey bag is lovingly handcrafted by women artisans from the Dong indigenous community, part of the DEYI textile cooperative. From the cultivation of cotton to natural dyeing with medicinal plants, through weaving and final sewing, every step is carried out with the utmost care — preserving centuries-old traditions and honoring Mother Earth.

These craftswomen live and work in deep harmony with Nature, in small remote villages of Rongjiang County, Guizhou. Province, Southwest China. Among the Dong people, indigo is considered a sacred medicinal plant. When preparing the indigo dye vat, the women prepare an altar to ask for blessings from the deities of Nature and the female ancestors, inviting a smooth and harmonious fermentation process. The indigo vat is
a living ecosystem — even considered as a member of the family by the women themselves.

Your ceramics and tea tools nestled in this tea bag made with the Dong people’s most precious indigo-dyed fabrics, will carry the imprint of this living energy — continuing their journey from the hidden mountains of Guizhou toward new stories, new hands, and new ceremonies.

COMPOSITION | 100% indigenous organic cotton. Hand-spun yarns, hand-dyed with indigo, and handwoven on traditional looms. Pearl-shaped jade button.

CARE | Each fabric is truly unique, shaped over several days of patient, handmade work. Small irregularities in the weave or the dye are not defects — they’re part of the soul of the piece, traces of the human hands behind it. To care for this piece with the attention it deserves, we invite you to read our caring guide.

SIZE | Tea bag : 25 x 25 cm + Reversible runner : 20 x 48 cm
