CHAXI 茶席 Tea Ritual Full Bundle

$278.00

ESSENCE | The chaxi 茶席 is the soil of your tea ritual — an intimate space where water and leaves meet in a graceful dance. It is an altar of presence, where intention, beauty, and energy alchemize. To support your practice, we have mindfully curated a special bundle: a long chabu + a shorter chabu five reversible coasters + a chajin (wiping cloth) — all handcrafted with care, all reversible, allowing for endless combinations to compose your tea altar. The interplay of tones, weaves, and textures invites you to create ever-evolving energetic landscapes, attuned to your inner state and aspirations for the moment.

The earthy browns are naturally dyed with Chinese yam, while the blues and greys emerge from indigo leaves — both revered in traditional Chinese medicine for their grounding and healing properties. These textile companions are more than visual adornments: they carry the subtle power of plant medicine, anchoring your ritual in the quiet strength of the Earth and inviting you to receive each infusion with presence, reverence, and deep connection to the natural world.

STORY | These textile pieces are lovingly handcrafted by women artisans from the Dong indigenous community, members of the DEYI textile cooperative. From the cultivation of cotton to natural dyeing with medicinal plants, weaving, and final sewing, every step is carried out with deep care — preserving centuries-old traditions and honoring Mother Earth. These craftswomen live and work in close communion with Nature, in remote mountain villages of Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, Southwest China.

The long chabu is reversible. One side is dyed with Chinese yam or Dioscorea cirrhosa an
ancestral medicinal root that grows deep within the earth, carrying the grounding energy of the Earth element. It offers a nourishing and grounding vessel for your ritual. The other side is made from the purest undyed cotton. In Chinese cosmology, this soft beige-white tone is associated with the Metal element and with mourning — an invitation to honor the wisdom held within every phase of the life cycle.

The short runner and coasters are matched in harmony. One side features a traditional indigo checkered weave, the other reveals a contemporary pattern of linear textures. Both are crafted from yarns hand-dyed with indigo leaves, celebrating a dialogue between heritage and contemporaneity. Among the Dong people, indigo is revered as a sacred medicinal plant. Before preparing the dye vat, women prepare an altar to honor Mother-Earth and their female ancestors, inviting a smooth and harmonious fermentation process. The chajin (wiping cloth) echoes this balance. One side bears the indigo checkered weave, while the other is made from handwoven undyed cotton. Each runner and coaster also includes a layer of pure wool, designed to gently absorb the droplets of water that dance during the ritual.

COMPOSITION | 100% indigenous organic cotton. Hand-spun yarns, hand-dyed with indigo leaves or Chinese yam, and handwoven on traditional looms.

CARING | Each fabric is truly unique, shaped over several days of patient, handmade work. Small irregularities in the weave or the dye are not defects — they’re part of the soul of the piece, traces of the human hands behind it. To care for these pieces with the attention they deserve, we invite you to read our caring guide.
