Yoisho Kamairicha is a rare type of organic green tea from Japan, made from a blend of yabukita and kanaya midori cultivar. While most Japanese green tea undergoes a steaming process after being picked, this type of green tea is pan-fried/roasted in an iron vessel instead, to dry the leaves and prevent further oxidization. This process of making kamairicha originated in China, but became a speciality of Kyushu, Japan. It gives unique flavors and aromas to the tea, lighter and less umami than usual Japanese tea, more similar to Chinese green tea. It is also lower in caffein levels, making it a perfect choice for afternoon tea. « Yoisho » is a cheerful word of encouragement, used after a hard day of work, when you can finally allow yourself to sit and relax.
